For almost half a century Stompa has been manufacturing safe furniture for
active children, and for a hundred years furniture has been manufactured in
our main factory, in Angvik in the Norwegian municipality of Gjemnes, where
the grandfather of one of our owners started furniture production as early
as 1906. Today we make furniture in our factories in Angvik and Oppdal,
while our upholstery is produced in Norway and England.
The Stompa trademark was established at the beginning of the 1960s. Our
business concept was then - and still is - to manufacture good,
well-functioning furniture at a competitive price. From the start, Stompa
built up a reputation for its bunk beds.
Over the years export has become increasingly important for Stompa. Since
1980 we have been represented in the British market, where Stompa products
are now sold by around 300 stockists. More than 70 per cent of our
production is exported to contries like England, the Netherlands, Germany
and Sweeden.
Today, Stig O. Jacobsen and Stein R. Grønnerøe each own 50 per cent of the
company.
